"Hey Deanna,  I have a little over three months down on my new way of life, and these are the immediate effects of my change: I am no longer get tired at the end of the day, used to yawn like crazy in the afternoons and now I never do; blood pressure is way down in the normal range; and I no longer get sore throats like I used to. I used to take Tum’s quite a bit to relieve acid in my throat now I never do.  Also, I never have a craving for any of the stuff not in my diet, which I always thought I would.  Anyway thanks again for giving me a nudge, you really are a great person for sharing."

"First, I gotta thank you. Its been about 1 month now that I haven't had any meat. For someone who was not only skeptical, but absolutely in love with steak, I feel better than I can remember. I am healthier, faster, stronger, and far happier than I have ever been. While my diet is still in the works, I want to thank you for helping me get this far. I have been rocking the beans, nuts, fruits and veggies. My friends are also cutting meat out of their diets too... I would have never thought my Army buddies would not be eating meat.. haha!"

"Just an update: It is unbelievable the amount of information and supporting science and research that is in “The China Study". Very happy you turned me on to it. I will be telling many families about the book. Almost finished with your “Avoid Disease” web site, again a lot of great information and easy to read.  Finished with lesson 4 of “Thrive in 30” even bought “THRIVE” The Vegan Nutrition Guide.  I am eating mostly Raw now as you suggested, and all vegan. So that makes me officially now a Healthatarian."

"Healthy living has always been a priority in my life and although I have never smoked, don't use drugs or alcohol and was in the past quite aware of what food I consumed, I realized that I also believed some of the myths around protein and dairy specifically. Your article on "What acidity means to your life" was really an eye opener to me. Previously I would have classified myself as a semi-vegetarian, but after having read your articles I have lived like a true "Healthatarian" these last two weeks. Thank you for all the health information."

"On February 11, 2007, I met with author and speaker, Deanna Bramble, in  Del Mar, Calif. Just three days later, I immediately stopped eating meat and chicken while reading the book, Mad Cowboy. Deanna also suggested Diet for a New America. I finished reading that entire book, and what I learned reaffirmed my decision. I don’t recall feeling any physical impact having become a “semi-vegetarian.” The choice, however, felt right to me for a variety of reasons with health being my #1 priority.

22 months later… on December 16, 2008, I met up with Deanna again. She praised me for my commitment as a semi-vegetarian and lightly challenged me to take my nutrition to another level. And so, again, overnight, I did. As of today, October 23, 2009, I’ve not had any alcohol, and aside from a handful of mishaps, I’ve not had any dairy, chicken, eggs, or fish. While it’s been over ten months living with a plant based diet, during the first few months, I also gave up processed sugar.

So, how do I feel? I’ve never felt nor looked better in my life. I look like I’m in my 20s, my skin looks fantastic, and I maintain an impressive physique even when I don’t exercise regularly. Additionally, I truly believe that I’ve never had as much energy nor focus when I had the traditional American diet.

Changing my lifestyle, diet, and habits overnight came easy not so much because of super self-discipline, but because of my lack of attachment to food. I continue to maintain a plant based diet for a variety of reasons, but most importantly because of my health. If it wasn’t for meeting Deanna, I wonder what I’d be eating today. Deanna has been one of the most influential people in my life due to her knowledge, leadership, and sense of humor. She’s the type of person that won’t necessarily say, “You’re doing it wrong.” Deanna, however, would ask, “Would you like to do it right?""

"I don't know if you recall me, but we once talked  long ago in 2005. Wow..too funny. Anyhow-I remember you had mentioned vegetarian diets to me back then. I use to eat loads of meat (animal protein) and never considered changing it until you had mentioned the health issues. I guess I realized I was getting older and needed to make a change in lifestyle for the better- so I did.

Nowadays, I eat very clean and I can tell the difference in my body BIG TIME. When last I talked to you, I was a body builder and weighed 220, and now I'm lean (thanks to less meat consumption at 180) and in the best shape I've ever been (now at 38).

My dad was diagnosed with cancer (thankfully had it removed) but he was a heavy animal (protein) consumer. I guess thats why I've always ate meat in my diets. Grew up that way. Anyhow- I got him into Berries, Fruits, Nuts and good old veggies thesedays. haha. What a change.

So, wanted to thank you for passing the word on veggie diets. As a 'macho' guy- it was hard to except THIS INFO coming from a woman- but I tried it... and I'm now a believer!). It sucks that men have to be so hard assed & "stubborn" with eatting habits. It took me so long.. but like I said, I'm much happier nowadays. :) Again Thanks!"

Hi there, We actually met about 1.5 years ago. Shortly thereafter,  Even though we didn't continue to keep in touch, our conversation around health and wellness stayed with me. About a month later, I read the China Study, and decided to take the 1 month challenge. Long story short, I've been enjoying a plant-based, whole foods diet for over a year.  In any case, never felt better -- Our conversation, and your recommendations, had a profound impact for the better. Thanks for that. Funny how life works out sometimes. Hope you are doing well."

"Deanna,  Seriously, I took all your recommendations to heart. I read through your website too.  The part you wrote about sushi was also crushing because I love sushi.  Since I read your website about fish, I’ve cut that out.  For the last few weeks, anytime I see something that is animal based, I shy away from it.  I’ve been ignorantly poisoning myself and my children for years. I don’t drink booze, coffee and sodas….I’ve never been a coffee drinker or a boozer and I kicked the soda habit a few years ago (used to drink a 6-pack of Dr Pepper each day). My evening milk and chocolate binges have been replaced with avocados, oranges or grapefruit that I buy from a local grower. I have totally changed the way I eat these last few weeks thanks to you! I really owe you my life!"

"Just getting into some of the parts in the China Study book. Everything is so interesting, so much useful info and so many myths and misconceptions about health, diseases and how we've been educated in such way.....And about the Hippocrates site--I've watched a few videos on it. The one thing that was very surprising was how the whole health system is really designed to keep people sick (maybe they'd call it 'in remission'), but never really designed to cure the root of the diseases. To me a lot has to do with all the financial interests around the drug companies, and even the educational system seems designed with that purpose. You know, don't cure the diseases, keep people taking drugs for ever and that way the money keeps coming in to the drug companies and the health provider companies (HMOs and such). Universities and the educational system also feed with incomplete or erroneous information."
